Jewellery Care

What is the best way to look after my jewellery?

Storing my jewellery:

  • Humidity and heat can tarnish your gold vermeil and silver jewellery, so store your pieces in a cool, dark and dry place
  • Individually store your jewellery pieces in your Memara soft pouch to keep your pieces tangle and scratch free
  • Fasten your necklace chains to avoid any tangles when storing them

Sunlight:

  • Avoid exposing your jewellery for long amounts of time to the sun as it can cause gemstones such as chalcedony, smokey quartz and amethyst to fade in colour

Avoiding contact with chemicals and moisture:

  • Remove your jewellery before showering, bathing and swimming
  • Avoid exposing your jewellery to chemicals, such as those found in hairspray, make-up, body oil, deodorant, perfume or sun-cream to keep your jewellery tarnish free and looking its best

How can I clean my jewellery?

Giving your jewellery a little TLC every couple of months ensures that it can stay looking beautiful for as long as possible

For gold-vermeil jewellery:

  • Give your piece a gentle clean with a silver or soft polishing cloth. A lint free cloth is an even better option
  • Avoid cleaning your jewellery with any chemicals or cleaning polishes

For sterling silver jewellery:

  • Gently clean your jewellery with warm water, a mild soap and with a soft toothbrush all-over
  • Then pat dry with a soft silver or polishing cloth

For brass jewellery:

  • Just like sterling silver jewellery, brass pieces should be gently cleaned with warm water, a mild soap and a soft toothbrush
  • Then pat dry with a soft silver or polishing cloth
  • For stubborn tarnishes use Brasso

For Gemstones:

  • Gently clean each stone with a touch of warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth
