Giving Back | Memara Jewellery

Being founder lead means we can focus on what matters most to us. We have an extremely
conscious approach to everything that we do and helping to protect our planet
for future generations informs our decisions as a business.

We are committed to ensuring that our operations are both kind to the environment and respectful
to all our stakeholders – partners, suppliers, and customers alike.

We will keep you posted on our journey, but here are some of the steps we have already taken to becoming a responsible business.

Our Artisans

Abby, our founder, has personally
handpicked and visited the small number of workshops we use and closely reviews the supply chain ethics. Our workshops are based in India and Indonesia where we have strong and mutually beneficial relationships.

We are dedicated to ensuring that every stage of the manufacturing
process is both kind to the environment and respectful to all the people involved, particularly the craftsmen and women who bring our designs to life.  We only work with artisans who offer complete transparency and meet our high standards of quality and conduct.

GIVING BACK

Education transforms lives by providing individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to break the cycle of poverty.10% of our profits will be given to Vimukti Sansha, a non-profit organisation that provides education and career opportunities to underprivileged girls from Jaipur. Since its establishment in 2004, Vimukti Sanstha has gradually expanded from 20 students to over 600, with 60% of its graduates furthering their education and 27% securing employment in various fields, including teaching and government emergency services. With three daughters of my own I am delighted to be able to contribute to this school.

Planting a Forest

We are working towards being carbon neutral.  Science tells us that trees are one of the best ways to absorb carbon from the atmosphere which is why we have teamed up with Ecologi, and plant one tree for every order shipped. At the moment we have planted a wood but with your orders we are aiming to create a forest!

Happy Packaging

We are a zero single-use packaging brand, meaning all our packaging and printed material is recyclable, or made from recycled material derived from an FSC® forest.

Our beautiful pouches are designed to be reused and are perfect for storing your jewellery.

Conscious Pieces

Our name Memara comes from a blend of the Punjabi word Kumara which means beautiful and memory which is the middle English word for keepsake. This encapsulates exactly what we want each piece to represent for our customers - a treasured keepsake.

Rather than following fashion trends we create pieces that we hope will feel timeless. Our collections are small which means we have very little waste.

Care and Repair

We want our jewellery to be adored forever and a little TLC never goes
amiss. Remember to give it a polish with a soft cloth and not to wear it in the shower or when swimming. It doesn’t like to be tugged around or covered in perfume. If anything happens to your jewellery, please get in touch as we can
offer a repair service.

A few tips when measuring:

  • Measure your ring size when your hands are warm, as your hands can change size as their temperature changes

  • Your fingers can get slightly larger after salt and alcohol – so it’s best not to find your ring size after a night out!
  • get slightly larger after salt and alcohol – so it’s best not to find your ring size after a night out! Your dominant hand often has slightly bigger fingers
  • Purchase the larger ring size if your size is in the middle of two sizes
  • Think about the design of the ring, a thick band will feel tighter than a thin band so you may want to go a whole size up!
  • Remember it will need to fit over your knuckle!
